Fish populations, especially bass populations can be stunted by low alkalinity water. Low alkalinity water is anything under 30 mg/L. Liquid lime is added to the water to raise the alkalinity. 7.5 gallons of concentrated liquid lime is the same as 1 ton of dry lime. The lime also helps to stabilize pH.
